The HMP is responsible for bringing together many of the investigators, protocols, and designs for the MBQC. Lita Proctor, NIH coordinator for the HMP, confirmed that, "These kinds of round robin QC activities are critical to advancing good science," and the MBQC anticipates closer integration with ongoing HMP efforts during future phases.
The MBQC is coordinating with the IHMS to exchange samples, synchronize protocols, and avoid duplication. Together, we aim to generate multiple assessments of microbiome assay variability applicable to different platforms across the human microbiome.
All MBQC data will be annotated using EMP-derived metadata standards and available through the EMP portal after collection by the project.
